The headline
The government presented a budget of Rwf7.796 trillion for the 2026/27 financial year to Parliament on 11 June 2026. The financial year starts on 1 July.
Where the money goes
- The economic transformation pillar gets Rwf4.9 trillion, about 63% of the total.
- For transport, priority goes to longer feeder roads, a larger national paved road network and a wider road to the new Kigali International Airport in Bugesera.
- The budget also funds resettlement for communities affected by major projects such as the Nyabarongo II hydropower scheme.
The budget statement did not break out separate figures for housing or urban development.
What it means for property
Roads decide which land becomes buildable and how far a plot is from work. Feeder roads open rural plots; the airport road changes the map in Bugesera (our story on the airport). Compare recorded land prices across districts on the Rwanda Housing Index.
